Our Approach to Sustainability

1. Sustainable Packaging

We’re committed to reducing environmental impact without compromising protection or performance:

• Bamboo fibre non-woven bags replace traditional plastics

• Cardboard replaces Styrofoam in packaging

• Materials are 100% recyclable and biodegradable

2. Reducing Plastic & E-Waste

Plastic and electronic waste pose major environmental challenges. Did you know:

• 4 million tonnes of plastic waste are thrown away in Canada each year, but only 9% is recycled

• Nearly 1 million tonnes of e-waste is generated in Canada annually, yet less than 20% is collected and recycled

At CSC LED, our “Take It Back” program ensures responsible recycling of all products we manufacture or supply. Customers can return products to any of our warehouse locations, where they’re broken down into their raw components—including aluminum, steel, copper, and electronic parts—and recycled efficiently, free of charge.

Our ultimate goal: eliminate e-waste from our supply chain while encouraging responsible disposal and product stewardship across our operations and customer base.

3. Combatting Light Pollution

Improper outdoor lighting disrupts ecosystems, wastes energy, and obscures the night sky. At CSC LED, we actively promote responsible lighting practices:

• DarkSky Approved products when configured at 3000K or lower

• Photocells and motion sensors to reduce unnecessary lighting

• Downward-directed lighting to preserve the night sky and reduce skyglow

4. Reducing Waste Across the Company

• Shipping: We reuse boxes, reduce over-packaging, and implement minimalist designs

• Marketing: We digitize brochures, manuals, and spec sheets, using QR codes to reduce paper use

• Inventory Management: Unsold products are donated to non-profits or community groups, while inventory levels are monitored to avoid overproduction
